David’s relational approach to ministry helps people connect the stories of their lives to the larger story of God's work in the world. For more than two decades, David has enjoyed walking alongside teenagers, college students, and adults on the journey of faith. His doctoral work in Christian Leadership focuses on the ways that the traditions and practices of the earliest Christians can help shape and form future expressions of the church.

David's approach to coaching and consulting grows out of that experience and perspective. He helped to begin Pinnacle’s Student Ministry division and has worked to expand his competency to help churches, clergy, and lay leaders discover their gifts, think theologically, and develop sustainable ministries. A deep desire to see reconciliation across multiple people groups is what motivates Terrell's involvement in ministry and community engagement. Patrick Vaughn

Patrick's been a Presbyterian pastor for more than twenty-five years. From South Carolina to Pennsylvania he has served both small and large congregations. Along the way he received training as a pastoral counselor and developed a passion for those who have felt lost, broken or rejected. Through video blogging, writing, and most importantly, listening, he offers a refreshing word of hope: In Jesus all people belong to God! This simple message is often overlooked in a world marked by the polarizing voices of fear and hate. But Patrick believes that as we embrace anew the unlikely grace of God we might just discover God through unlikely people and in unlikely places. Through Pinnacle, Patrick provides services focused on the intersection of faith and mental health. When clergy or church staff encounter mental illness, Patrick can provide individual coaching to navigate challenging waters, consulting for congregations, and training on faith and mental illness. “Joining Pinnacle as an Affiliate is a pleasure,” says Patrick who considers it a privilege to walk with ministers who grapple with mental illness.

Patrick Blogs at The Unlikely Preacher

In 2002, Mark Tidsworth led the Pastoral Counseling Center he directed to apply for the Sustaining Pastoral Excellence Grant offered by The Lilly Foundation. Though the Center did not receive this grant, it galvanized Mark’s calling to assist clergy and congregations in their journey toward mission fulfillment. Through serving as a pastor, new church developer, interim pastor, and therapist, Mark’s vocation evolved towards specializing in services to support the mission of the church. Over time, Mark’s counseling caseload became couples, ministers, minister support groups, as well as informal consulting with church staffs and congregations.

In January 2004, Mark moved from Charleston, SC to Columbia, SC at the invitation of Palmetto Health, starting a Center for Clergy & Congregations. After upgrading skills and certifications, this Center began providing coaching, consulting, and training to South Carolina constituents. After four and a half years, it became clear that this kind of work could not develop further in this setting, leading to the establishment of Pinnacle Leadership Associates.

Upon establishing Pinnacle in June 2008, Mark invited Associates to join the Pinnacle Team, expanding service areas across the United States. Collaborative, synergistic ministry is part of Pinnacle’s identity. Additional foundational values guiding Pinnacle’s journey are generativity, optimism, strengths orientation, faith focused, missional, and interactive. Our tag line, “Living And Working On Purpose,” grows out of these values.

Now Pinnacle expresses itself through four divisions of Training, Coaching, Consulting, and Publishing, with leadership in place for each division. We are glad you are here. We look forward to partnering with you, working together toward God’s kingdom coming on earth, as it is in heaven

our Journey

Pinnacle Leadership Associates is a professional group assisting clients to discern and live out their callings through purposeful living and working. We are eager to partner with clients who are (or desire to be) intentionally living and working, making a difference in this world. We want to live out our callings as fully and effectively as possible, making the most of each opportunity to serve and lead others. Sharing and building on this vision with clergy, church staff, congregations, and denominations is our passion at Pinnacle.

"Since you cannot do good to all, you are to pay special attention to those who, by accidents of time or place or circumstance, are brought into closer connection with you."

     -Saint Augustine

OUr Clients

Living and working on purpose

As we gathered our list of previous clients, we realized listing them is unwieldy and space-prohibitive. Instead, the following are types of clients with whom we work. We are glad to connect with numerous previous clients who will share their experience with Pinnacle.

Congregations
Most of our work when it comes to training and consulting are congregations from various Christian denominations.

Church Staffs and Lay Leadership Teams
These working teams tend to seek us out for training, coaching, and consulting.

Denominations
Associations, Conferences, Conventions, Diocese, Districts, Fellowships, Networks, Presbyteries, Synods...these are some of the denominational type groups with whom we have worked.

Non-Profit Organizations

Counseling Centers, YMCAs, Children's Centers, Human Relief Agencies, Job Training Organizations, Medical Associations...these are some of the NPO type groups with whom we have worked.

Coaching
Since coaching is confidential, we don't publish our client lists. At the same time, some of our coaching clients are happy to share their experience with a Pinnacle coach. The majority of our clients are clergy and church staff.

Others

Over time, many professionals and organizations who are not faith-based have engaged us for services. We are glad to engage people and organizational development in many spheres of life and work.
